Why this site exists

When parents search for Montessori information, they usually find one of three things: a school trying to enroll their child, a store trying to sell them materials, or an overwhelmed parent blog that hasn't been updated since 2019.

Montessori Guide is none of those. We are an independent editorial site. We don't run a school, we don't sell anything, and we don't accept sponsored content. Our only revenue comes from contextual advertising, which means our incentive is simple: write things that are genuinely useful, so people come back.

What we cover

We cover the full arc of Montessori education for families everywhere:

How we write our content

Every article on this site is researched and written from scratch. We draw on Maria Montessori's original writings, contemporary peer-reviewed studies in education and developmental psychology, and the published standards of AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) and AMS (American Montessori Society).

We don't translate, we don't spin, and we don't publish lists of "fun Montessori-ish activities" that have nothing to do with Montessori. If we can't support a claim, we say so.

What "Montessori" actually means on this site

The word "Montessori" is not trademarked. This means anyone can use it, and many do, to sell products that have little to do with Maria Montessori's actual work. On this site, when we call something "Montessori," we mean it aligns with the documented principles and practices developed by Dr. Montessori between 1906 and 1952, as interpreted by AMI and AMS-trained educators.

We note when something is more loosely inspired by the approach versus when it reflects certified Montessori practice.
